## How does overtime work with two pay rates?

For the standard weighted method, divide all straight-time earnings by total worked hours in the same workweek. This gives the regular rate. Straight time already pays every worked hour at 1×, so add half the unrounded regular rate for each hour above 40.

 **Synthetic example:** 30 hours at $20 plus 16 at $24 gives $984 straight time over 46 hours. The weighted regular rate is $984 ÷ 46. The additional premium is 6 × 0.5 × ($984 ÷ 46) = $64.17. Modeled gross is $1,048.17. Include hourly shift differentials once.
