## How is standard weekly overtime pay calculated?

For covered, nonexempt hourly work under this federal method, hours above 40 in a workweek receive 1.5× the regular rate. At one hourly rate, gross pay equals all worked hours × rate, plus overtime hours × rate × 0.5.

**Synthetic example:** 45 hours at $24 gives $1,080 straight time plus $60 additional premium, or $1,140 gross. A two-week paycheck still requires two separate weekly calculations. Gross is not take-home pay.
